Philly Heads- Geno's or Pat's?

Just saw something on the Travel Channel (I think) called Steak Paradise about them.

Which is better?

The one that only takes orders in english.

^ that's genos.

most people will tell you to avoid both - they're the big names in philly steaks, they're across the street from one another and they're open 247, so they're kind of a toursty spot. (but if you need a steak in the middle of the night - or first thing in the morning, as i have - they're the go-to spots.) most philadelphians i know support a smaller, local shop in their neighborhood.

personally, i was a pat's man for a while...
then moved to geno's after too much gristle time and time again at pat's.
then i had tony luke's and it was like eating a steak sandwich for the first time.

the only time I have had either are times when I have been bombed off my ass.
i think i went to the one on the corner.
my son likes Geno's
i can always get a good cheese steak in most pizzarias near my apartment.
overall i think they're both tourist traps
Jim's isn't bad....actually last time I had Jim's I ate it in like 2 minutes flat.

See, now I think that was just some marketing bullshit right there. Got them national coverage. Bullshit is what that is. Both from the cynical marketing angle, and the playing on people's prejudicial stupidity angle.

I've had both on different trips to Philly..don't notice much of a difference between the 2 and was rather dissapointed in both..they were good but nothing special..almost like steak-ums......

I'm sure there are a LOT better cheese steaks in Philly, like mom and pop shops, and smaller, less touristy spots..would love to try some next time I'm out that way...heard very good things about tony lukes..

those 2 places are usually surrounded by annoying cocktasters on any given weekend.
no thanky.
i had a killer pizzaria near me, la pizza nostra.
sadly the big fat guy who ran it died.
damn i used to eat there way too much
