"Family Share Plan"

moron - 6-15-2005 at 12:40 PM

I figured that signing up for a shared cell phone plan with Mrs. Moron would save us some bucks, and I just got the highest bill Ive ever fucking gotten. $177 and change for 500 shared minutes. I used up 103 of those minutes, and she went crazy and used up 600 or so and every minute over the 500 costs .45. Fucking shit. Ive gotta sew her mouth shut.

I have 500 free minutes and I use, MAYBE, 75 of those a month. I hate talking on the phone.

Im not much of a phone talker either. I get my message across as quickly as possible and hang up. My father likes to chat so sometimes Im on a bit longer with him. The Mrs. and I used to have separate plans... both had 400 minutes. I always used about 100, she never went over her minutes. I thought 500 would be fine for the two of us, and it looked like it would turn out cheaper in the end. Boy was I wrong. Looks like I might have to either increase our minutes or tell her mother to call out house phone.

my plan is 700 minutes for $50. (of course that comes to like $65 after taxes and fees. fuckers.) anyway, i very rarely use the full 700 minutes (only when i have to make a lot of client calls to make), but that still winds up being cheaper than having to pay the occasional overages charge on the next lower plan.

of course, sprint will tell you on a daily basis how many minutes you've used, but there's a charge for that!

I can go online and check my usage so far for the month. I was suprised to see that checking voicemail takes away from your minutes. I thought that since I have free "In Network" minutes that since Im pretty much just calling myself... or Verizon for that matter... that it was "in network". Guess not.

Ive calmed down a bit from when I made this thread, but something here is gonna have to fucking change. Ive never paid this much for a cell phone bill.

RomanticViolence - 6-15-2005 at 02:05 PM

You might wanna check over your bill to make sure there not over charging you.. Thats what they have been doing to us!!

The same thing happend with us moron. We thought it would be cheaper because calling each other is free and apparently we had free "In-Calling" which means we can call anyone with a verizon phone "In our calling area" for free .

Every month for the past 3 months our phone bill has been fucking CRAZY!. I've had to sit down and play phone tag with the customer service people at Verizon wireless for atleast an hour to get our bill straightend out. At first they had my phone number as being a baltimore line (long distance)... and i haven't lived in baltimore since march... then when they fixed that they put both of our phones as "Primary lines" thats like having two seperate plans! $$$$

The supervisors usally get it straightend out though. It's just a pain in the ass that i have to call every month because verizon can't get there shit together. If my bill is fucked up this month im gonna hurt someone!!!
Ill be glad when my contract is up with them.

BDx13 - 6-15-2005 at 02:06 PM

how much is the base 500 min. plan? if it's any consolation, from a technical standpoint, verizon has the best network, so you should have really clear calls!

moron - 6-15-2005 at 02:14 PM

I went to the Verizon store today to get clarification on my bill. It all looks ok. One primary number, one secondary. It's supposed to cost $59.99 plus tax, fees, etc. Anyway, they showed me that we had an overage in minutes and that was that. I wish it was Verizon's fault, but it isnt. Ive just got a chatty girlfriend.

all cell phone companies do is rip you off.
its an artform

clevohardcore - 6-15-2005 at 05:00 PM

you got that right endera.

I'm usually on top of bs jargon from business and contracts but I still do not understand my cellphone bill. I got 800 minutes and pay est $90 a month for myself and my wife. I am hardly ever on my phone enless my wife or a friend calls. I still can't tell how many regular minutes we use and how many are the free ones between me or any other verizon phone I call or whatever.

Cell phones are evil. Never had one, don't want one.
