Talk shit just before you go under...Morphine is your friend...

MikeResist - 11-3-2010 at 06:33 AM

Thanks guys, I'll be heading to the hospital soon. I'll let you all know how it goes. Paul, I plan on becoming very good friends with morphine.

XnMeX - 11-3-2010 at 07:17 AM

Morphine button became my best friend after surgery.

Johnny_Whistle - 11-3-2010 at 09:01 AM

Mmmmmm...morphine.

There's a reason they keep it on a timed drip.

(Hint: because it's AWESOME)

Good luck with the surgery...

Discipline - 11-3-2010 at 10:18 AM

XnMeX - 11-3-2010 at 12:45 PM

When I had srugery the morphine drip made a "BEEP BA BEEP" sound when pressed so I was laying in bed going

"Won't you take me to *BEEP BA BEEP* Morphine TOOOOOWWWNNN!!! Won't you take me to *BEEP BA BEEP" Morphine Town!"

panzerkreuzer - 11-3-2010 at 02:53 PM

MikeResist - 11-8-2010 at 11:50 AM

Just wanted to say thanks again for the well wishes. Everything went well. I'm home and recovering now. I will hopefully be back on my feet in no time. Thanks again guys!

BDx13 - 11-8-2010 at 11:52 AM

i don;t know what the hell the problem was, but i sure hope it's sorted.
take care of yourself!

MikeResist - 11-8-2010 at 11:54 AM

I had gastric bypass surgery BD. So in the upcoming months just to let you know, we won't have a new guitarist it'll just be me only thinner heh.

BDx13 - 11-8-2010 at 12:07 PM

no shit! good for you, mike!
when are you expected to be up and about?

kinda crazy that two people on this board have had that done.
did you talk with monty before doing it?

MikeResist - 11-8-2010 at 12:11 PM

Well this has been kind of a long process, i tried getting it done last year, but insurance issues fucked me over. I spoke to Monty about it briefly back then. I just sent hima message a few min ago as well. But the doctors said about 2 plus weeks to be back to normal walking around and such. So I'm hoping thats the case considering we are playing with Murphys Law and Antidote in New York on Dec 4th. I hope I'm ready for that. I'm thinking of kinda following the weight loss from month to month, just to see the difference. I'll post it up on here if I do.

BDx13 - 11-8-2010 at 12:14 PM

congratulations again, mike.
this is such a great opportunity.

Johnny_Whistle - 11-8-2010 at 01:45 PM

Be very very careful and listen to your doctor's advice closely. as far as doing a show goes, that's tricky. Yeah, you'll technically be more mobile in a couple weeks, but it's going to be an adjustment. I had mine done three and a half years ago, and I did a standup show about two weeks later. Even just standing on a stage for a half hour (I was not a very physical act like, say, Dane Cook), I was wiped out afterwards. Did you go through MGH?

Oh, and congratulations, it's a life changer to be sure.

XnMeX - 11-8-2010 at 02:07 PM

Looks like you can make that 3 members...

Any other questions feel free to ask. 12/4 you SHOULD be ok to do a "lower energy" performance. I am sure the guitar pressed on the month old wounds might feel good but Like I said, a month out was when I started feeling human again.

MikeResist - 11-8-2010 at 03:05 PM

Thanks guys, cool to know some people on here have had the procedure. I did have it at MGH, my surgeon was Dr.Pratt. I plan on the Dec 4th being very low energy for me at least, lets hope it goes ok. We have someone going to practices as a fill in just to be prepared if i can't play .
