Thorp and Sailor's Grave Board

Gorilla Biscuits & NIssans

XHonusWagnerX - 8-11-2005 at 09:09 PM

I just saw a Nissan comercial and "Cant wait one minute more" the CIV song was playing in the background. Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but it seemed really weird to me!

But heck.... if Sammy can play for Limp Bizkit why cant Civ sell Nissans!

BDx13 - 8-12-2005 at 12:05 AM

wow, that's wild.

thedog - 8-12-2005 at 01:13 AM

not really as strange, but there is a Madness song in a new levis commercial

I heard the Madness song in that other comercial and recognized it right away. I just sat staring at the TV when I heard 'Cant Wait' start playing. Just seemed really odd for a "Hardcore" song to be in a car comercial!

what about the maytals song in that battery comercial, ( i think) the one that the guy is chasing his i pod down the street,

XHonusWagnerX - 8-12-2005 at 08:58 AM

I just heard the CIV/NISSAN comercial on the radio.... It a huge marketing Blitz! I wonder how much they paid to use the song? Its gotta be someone that works at an ad agency thats into hardcore that put it together.

DAK - 8-12-2005 at 09:17 AM

Yeah, I hear that commercial everyday on the radio at work.

clevohardcore - 8-12-2005 at 10:58 AM

I have never heard/saw this commercial yet. DAMN. I love that record too. I hope they all are getting royalties out the ass for that, becasue it ruins the song for me seriously. Anyone wan tto diss that record all I have to say is listen to it and tell me you don't want to rock out. SET YOUR GOALS is great but selling a song to nissan is kind of shitty, but hey...It's not my song.

whats worse, selling a song to Nissan or playing drums for Limp Bizkit? Im really not sure which is worse! There both about money, but I think that CIV was smarter than Sammy. Limp Bizkit already made all their money so I dont think he will cash in that big.

His part isnt in the comercial at all, but I wonder what Lou SOIA thinks about it since he sings on it too.

Set your goals is an awesome record though!

ahhhh who cares that he sold it?
they deserve to make some money
i dont buy that "sell out" thing
i mean really what difference does it make?
BUT playing drums for limp bizcut is one of the worst things one could do

Exactly! Unless it was a Gorilla Bscuits or Minor Threat song in a Budweiser comercial..... now that is a MORAL sell out ;)

JawnDiablo - 8-12-2005 at 11:54 AM

the new boston market commercial has an old reverend horton heat song in it
eat steak eat steak its a real good meal....

clevohardcore - 8-12-2005 at 11:55 AM

I aint tryin to say that they shouldn't do it. To be honest if I made a song like that and a car company came to me and said we will pay ??????? for 10 seconds of the song you wrote I would probably do it too.

Dave - 8-12-2005 at 03:36 PM

why not, i probably would

Killthehumans - 8-12-2005 at 04:10 PM

wasnt east bay ray going to use holiday in cambodia for a levis commercial

Murk - 8-13-2005 at 03:58 AM

Heh.

Turned on the car today and that shit came on right away.

Walter's gettin' paid.

thedog - 8-16-2005 at 04:26 AM

i dont believe in that selling out theory, it doesnt change the credibility of the band or the song to have it in a car commercial.
i'd rather see someone like civ get compensated for his work, over someone like moby who has had countless tracks in commercials.
more power to them.

now i am off to go buy a nissan.

Haven't seen the Nissan commercial, but I did noticed a similar thing in The girl next door. At one point they use Youth of Today's 'Break down the walls' to introduce the 'bad guy'. Who could have guessed a sXe would ultimately sell out to a 'porn' flick? My money's on Ray!

ps. first post - Dutch guy who likes the Thorp roster

yah I think that song is actually on the 'Girl Next Door' soundtrack, but they used about 5 seconds of it in the movie. That means that they made even more since it was on the soundtrack CD.
