I've heard people give props and do covers but never heard the actual band. Seriously.

be possible to come up in the scene at all without hearing Blitz. My guess is you've heard them and didn't realize that's who you were hearing and I
can just about guarantee you've heard bands covering their songs before. |
^^^^^ I know. I know. I grew up on Hardcore and US punk and kind of shut out other shit while growing up. I loved GBH and shit like that but never got
into alot of Oi or whatever. I hung around SA and Last Resort skins in Clevo and that was as far to Oi as I got. We drank and partied and had drama
but I related more to hardcore and metal more. I remember this guy that owned a record store called SHATTERED in Clevo and this dude was a closet
racist. Always ordering records and cd's and trying to pawn them off on everyone so I kind of associated it all with racism. I know thats not all that
its all about but to a young hardcore kid thats how it seemed. I wasn't about to go hang blacks or jews because skrewdriver said its ok.

Now today I jam out some Oi that I have picked up over the last couple years. I want more. I like the fact that its not about karate kicks and
makeup.

I still find oi! to be the purest form of punk rock.

I love Oi! Really got into it in the last couple years... probably the first Oi I heard was the Business and early DKM.
Just bought a bunch on my vacation..... Best of Cock Sparrer, The Business - The Truth The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth, The Bruisers -
Cruisin' For A Bruisin', and The Last Resort - Skinhead Anthems.
I'm really into Oi with hardcore type shit mixed in it. Like Wisdom In Chains, Fighting Chance.. that kind of stuff.

I see them as being a Hard Core band with heavy Oi influences, much the same way I see Slapshot (or at least old Slapshot). That sounds pretty close
to your description, but I would definitely consider them to be more in the HC realm than Oi. Great fucking band whatever you wanna call them. I wish
I had gotten to see 'em play. Fuck, I wish they were still going, I'd love to hear another record outta them.

This could be a long list so I'm gonna' keep it to top 5. I was gonna go three but I couldn't narrow it down.
The Cockney Rejects
Blitz
Peter and the TestTube Babies
The Violators
The Ejected
I'm gonna stop now because this took me about twenty minutes and I've changed it too many times. This is my final list.........
I'm also giving an Honourable Mention to Slade. They weren't an Oi! band but they inspired a lot of East End kids to start bands.

Am I the only person who has trouble finding stuff by The Ejected? |
