finally started (and hopefully sticking to it)
Some guys are having a weight loss contest at work and asked me to join in. We weighed in yesterday on a freight scale so its not really accurate, but
we will use that scale consistantly and it will be fair.
I'm looking for advice on 'fast foods' that are okay (dare I say good) to eat?
anyone?

salads w/ grilled chicken and low fat dressing.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

1. A subway 6" on wheat w/ no cheese or mayonnaise, any meat.
2. See BD above.
3. Bottled water at the fast food place.
If you ate one meal a day at a fast food place you could select something that seemed "low fat" and MAYBE be OK. But one meal a day is a terrible way
to lose weight and you'll gain it back when you go to regular eating habits.
If you can't cook for yourself or your life is just too hectic to bother (or you're like me where your wife is veg and you don't know how to cook for
one person and not waste a shit ton of leftovers) your best option is to eat the weight watchers/lean cuisine type meals. They're usually 4/5 for
$10...if you ate those all week long your grocery bill would be $50. Could do worse.
In your case when you're on your world tour with Slapshot you may want to
start loving lettuce....there isn't a lot to eat on the road. Or bring some sugar free instant oatmeal packets and canned tuna with you for
sustenance.

with Slapshot there is WAY TO MUCH To eat on the road!!
they have load in food (salami, cheese, breads, candy, soda, coffee, etc)
dinner (grilled or roasted chicken, potato etc)
load out food/take out (pizza or doner if theres a place near by)
Theres lots of free time and lots of food!!

so the weight loss contest at work....
I drank A LOT of water before the weigh in so that I could have a big boost in the first couple of days. So since last Monday I am down 19 pounds....
pretty crazy! I just hope I can keep it up.

wow, 19...not bad... despite the initial artificial inflation!
keep it up honus.
i've definitely lost weight since we got to london.
i'm eating a little bit less, but we're out walking miles everyday and that's making a difference.
weird, though... i'm basically eating meat and fruit exclusively.
If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

one problem I'm having is going out to eat (not fast food). I know I can get a salad or salad with grilled chicken, but thats boring sometimes. I
thought that baked white fish at the place I goto would be good, but its like 600+ calories and 30+ grams of fat. Even that with a dry baked potato
& dry broccoli isnt that great.
what do you guys eat when you go out and your dieting?

If you can think of your diet as being 2 triangles one with the base at the bottom (your protein intake) and the other inverted with its base at the
top (carb intake) Take the bulk of your carbs in before lunch, and the bulk of your protein in later in the day. Also find at least 25min a day to
do some light cardio (walking, etc.).
I just started getting back to the gym again myself and dropped 12lbs last week, hoping to lose 60lbs by Jan. 1, 2010

I knew about the carbs (which I'm limiting as much as I can) but didnt know that protein later in the day is best, thanks.
I've been walking/running at work. I only get 1/2 hour for lunch and I have to eat so Ive been doing 1/2-3/4's of a mile. I'm trying to work it up to
at least a mile soon.
I really wanna be in better shape for the tour I'm going on in August so I'm trying pretty hard.

Ideally you want to get about 40g of protein right after you work out. The good thing about protein is that most of it passes through when unused,
whereas carbs and fat tend to stick to you. So having high protein foods late in the day won't hurt you as much.

weighed myself today and I'm down 25 pounds since the start of the 'diet contest' at work. about 6-8 of that was water I drank to gain for the
contest, but the rest is from diet & exercise.

6-8 lbs of water, holy christ lol.
good going honus, keep it up, remember though 25 pounds, initial water or not in a month is an epic amount...probably a lot of water weight...make
sure you stick to a better eating regimen when your contest is over or those quick loss pounds from dieting will come back 10x faster than you lost
them.
a healthy weight loss amount is about 2lbs per week...anything past that feels great to see on the scale, but its MUCH harder to keep off.

anything that doesn't hurt your previous efforts is always good, its kind of demoralizing to lose weight than gain it back
Well I've got a feeling I'm gonna get mine in. Retribution let the games begin.
