I have no idea. People on LAMBGOAT are saying this. I have no idea if it's bullshit or not. I figured THORP would know the real deal.

Heres some stuff I found on another board....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"i was told via email that the buyer has backed out and that he can't guarantee any of the bands will be paid. i am also hearing that certain booking agents / labels are pulling their bands. the third and final thing i heard is that there is a problem with the insurance and possibility of loss of the venue."

they have no money. as of 6 pm last night, my co-buyer and i pulled off of the event due to breach of contract on their part. from what i am told, the festival is still going on, but i cannot promise you that your bands will be paid, or that the fest will look the same as it does at this moment.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HEADS UP ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE IS A VERY HIGH PROBABILITY THAT HELLFEST WILL BE CANCELED DUE TO MANY CIRCUMSTANCES. BEFORE SENDING ANY ARTIST TO THIS EVENT PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR AGENT OR MANAGER.

You know, when I saw the list of bands playing I was thinking that maybe they bit off a bit more then they would chew. That is a lot of fucking bands. So who knows maybe it will be cancelled, or they'll trim down the number of bands tremendously.

too bad we sucked
I want a new band

as for hellfest
I remember when the only us fest was the superbowl of hardcore....
and all the good fests were in europe...
looks like it might go back to being that way again

According to several reliable sources, it appears that this year's Hellfest may not take place, or may be drastically altered. Reportedly, organizers have run into some major financial issues, likely rendering much of show's requirements impossible to fulfill. No word has come down from the Hellfest people, but we advise that you get some definitive information before traveling to the event.

Update: - We have no updates honestly. For those of you emailing us... if we have any additional information, we'll post it here. Definitely do NOT rely upon our website to make Hellfest plans. Contact Hellfest promoters before taking any action.

maybe this is a grand plan to bring back real hardcore...
there are lots of big money people involved with putting on this show
if it gets cancelled, then those people will not invest again...(lets hope)
bands will get dropped, labels will dry up, and maybe we can get this thing back under control
"who wants to deal with a bunch of scummy punk rockers when we can invest more into hip-hop"-big money record guy

The only reason I would care about Hellfest being cancelled is good bands being affected. I would hate to see Killing Time, Madball, NSK, SOIA, Ramallah get screwed. NSK are flying up to play this one show, so I hope they don't get screwed for cash or on their plane tickets. Other bands have planned their tours around playing this one show, so it would suck for them to have it cancelled.

Other then that, I could give a fuck if Hellfest goes on or not.

We know about as much as everyone else. We're just playing it by ear and trying to stay calm about the whole situation. If we find anything more out, we'll pass the word.

"Hellfest is in court now trying to file an injunction against the Soverign Bank Arena. SBA pulled out after someone led them to believe that there would be lots of fights and cuddling at the shows. With this new information at hand, SBA decided that they wanted an extreme crazy pants insurance plan. Something that Hellfest organizers can not provide in a few hours. SBA has closed their doors and is not allowing the delivery of any equipment inside the venue. Because the fest is in a few hours - and Hellfest peoples cant give bands a definite answer, many/most of the bands flying in have canceled their plans. Hellfest did not give any sort of a deposit to a single band - and told the bands that if the show was canceled they could not refund travel costs. WHich is why many of the bands are saying "thanks but no thanks"

Tons of other shows are already being booked. So if anyone is heading out there, I think there will be an all reunion show somewhere out there.

HELLFEST?S OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Hellfest has been cancelled. After a full day in court in Burlington County, NJ, Hellfest was unable to meet unreasonable demands brought to Hellfest?s attention by the Sovereign Bank Arena on August 16, 2005 at 6:21 PM, and to be met by August 17, 2005 at 7:00 AM. Actions were taken and Hellfest had an injunction filed by noon on August 17, 2005, but was overruled by the judge.

We send our deepest apologies out to the fans and everyone who was involved with the event and want you to be aware that legal action is being taken. For ticket refunds please contact the Sovereign Bank Arena box office.

THERE WILL BE A FULL STATEMENT TO BE RELEASED FROM THE HELLFEST STAFF AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

So it's offical I guess. Just got this email from the girl that was helping with publicity for hellfest.

everyone is almost there
and it is chaos
the population of tight pants, bad hair, and makeup wearing kids (is it the late 80's again) in the eastern 3rd of the county is currently doubled, and all the kids flying in from europe...
damn sketch fest

man, what the hell happened to hardcore? wearing army pants and a band shirt in high school got me constanly picked on and bullied, now being different is trendy. I hope this does signal the end of corporate hardcore, and nu-metalcore. I suppose it is too bad for the bands playing the festival for the right reasons, but for the hundreds playing chugga chugga sqeeuk in their tight pants, white belts, and homo haircuts, well I don't think anyone will miss them. Expect their fans, who would have been there in tight pants, white belts and with homo haircuts.
