Is it just me, or does the idea of a band from South Africa blending Irish folk music into their sound seem really odd?

I always thought that South Africans were more akin to the Dutch. That said, yes Mike... it seemed odd to me when I read it too.

hey lads, there are plenty of South Africans from Irish decent!!
Swivelfoot is a cool band and they are working hard on a very well produced release.

Thats cool and all, I haven't had the chance to check them out yet so I am saying this without giving them a listen. I am tired of the irish fused
punk stuff, it is being played out and has become a gimmick to be used and abused by the frat boy crowds. Too many "Irish, folk, punk, roots" type
bands running around right now and they are oversaturating something that used to be real unique and interesting. Again, nothing against these fellas,
I haven't listened to them yet, I'm just tired of seein Irish and punk in the same description.

Yeah, though I do like Oi. Flogging Molly and DKM pretty much do it for me on the Irish infused punk side o things me boyos,
